Leah Gunn, President of Tristate Expo: Juneteenth Affairs, is overflowing with excitement about the mural project and urges the community to come together and get involved. After a year and a half of meticulous planning and preparation, the time has finally arrived for the paint to hit the wall.

Renowned mixed media artist, art activist, muralist, and designer     E. L. Chisolm, hailing from Atlanta, GA, and Birmingham, AL, has been selected to lead the mural project. Her unique vision promises to breathe new life into the Seacap building and the surrounding area.

Among the prominent figures to be featured in the mural is Peggy Crawford James, one of the original founders of Seacap. Also, spotlighted are other public figures who participated in the inaugural Juneteenth Parade back in 2022, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and history of the community.

The painting festivities kick off at 11 A.M., promising a day filled with creativity, camaraderie, and community spirit. So, come to Dowtown Dothan, grab your paintbrushes, and let’s come together to make our city even more beautiful.
