Florida Murder Suspect Found Dead on I-10 in Alabama

Baldwin County – (WDNews) Less than an hour after Gulf Coast law enforcement were alerted about a suspect vehicle linked to a Hillsborough County, Florida, murder, Baldwin County deputies and Alabama State Troopers spotted the truck on I-10. The traffic stop near the 40-mile marker east of the Malbis Exit led to a grim discovery.

The driver, identified as Maira Pacheco Nuñez, 58, from Tampa, Florida, didn’t comply with officers’ commands. A drone revealed her slumped over inside the truck’s cab, having died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Pacheco Nuñez was wanted for the murder of her boyfriend, Kelbys Avila, 50, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Traffic on I-10 westbound was halted for hours as investigators processed the scene, dealing with the complexities of a murder-related crime scene.
