Dothan High Seniors Honored with Seal of Biliteracy

DOTHAN, Ala. – (WDNews) Dothan City Schools proudly announce the presentation of the Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing eight Dothan High School graduates for their proficiency in English and at least one other world language, including American Sign Language.

Each student will receive a special commendation from the Dothan City Board of Education at the May meeting, along with a medal to be worn during their graduation.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievement of these eight seniors who have demonstrated outstanding proficiency in two languages,” says Sarahann Odom, Dothan City Schools English Language Learner Coordinator. “These students are trailblazers for Dothan City and are leading the way into our 21st-century multicultural, multilingual world.”

The Seal of Biliteracy reflects the students’ dedication, perseverance, and the guidance of committed educators. Through this recognition, Dothan City Schools aims to cultivate marketable 21st-century skills and global competence, celebrating the diversity represented by the languages spoken in the district.

Encouraging students to study multiple languages not only enriches their educational journey but also prepares them for success in the global workforce.
