Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest on Hwy 81

Washington County, (WDnews) On May 3, 2024, a deputy from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) initiated a routine traffic stop along Highway 81. During the stop, a Washington County K9 unit was called in to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle, which led to an alert indicating the possible presence of illegal narcotics.

Following the K9 alert, a thorough search of the vehicle was carried out. Inside the driver’s backpack, belonging to Kylan Knight from Jacksonville, authorities discovered substances believed to be marijuana, mushrooms, and ketamine.

As a result of the discovery, Knight was promptly arrested and now faces charges of possession of mushrooms and possession of ketamine. The incident underscores law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities in the area, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
