Dothan – (WDNews)In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, landmarks, public buildings, and fire departments nationwide will illuminate in red to honor fallen firefighters and their families. The Dothan Fire Department, in collaboration with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, extends an invitation to the community to join in lighting buildings or homes in red as part of America’s Tribute to Fallen Firefighters, commencing Saturday, May 4th.

Fire Chief Larry Williams emphasized the significance of this annual commemoration, stating, “This nationwide effort to turn our communities red is in its fifth year of paying tribute to our fallen brothers and sisters across the country.” Chief Williams underscored the unfortunate reality of firefighter casualties, remarking, “Tragically, we lose too many firefighters each year in the line of duty, both career and volunteer.”

According to Chief Williams, the Dothan Civic Center and all City of Dothan Fire Stations will participate in this year’s tribute. The initiative aims to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of America’s firefighters while providing support to their bereaved families.

Join the Dothan community in illuminating in red as a symbol of remembrance and gratitude for the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.
