Wiregrass – (WDNews) In a precautionary move, approximately 16,000 pounds of ground beef sold at Walmart stores across the nation is being recalled due to potential E. coli contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) made the announcement on Thursday, urging consumers who have purchased these products to refrain from consuming them.

The recall stems from Cargill Meat Solutions in Pennsylvania, which took action after identifying that previously segregated product had been inadvertently utilized in the production of ground beef. The recalled ground beef was produced on April 26-27, 2024.

While there have been no reported illnesses linked to the possible contamination, the USDA advises individuals who are concerned about potential illness to contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers are urged to either discard the affected products or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.
