Latonya Dorsey, who runs Mama T’s restaurant, has officially filed a lawsuit against the City of Dothan. She’s asking for $25 million in damages.

Dorsey has been talking about taking legal action since May 2022 when her conflict with the city began. She claims that city staff leaked information about her bid for a federal after-school feeding program, leading her to lose out to Breakfast At Tammies.

According to Dorsey, city employees or representatives then tried to cover up the issue as a “personnel matter” and attempted to intimidate her.

After nearly two years of battling with the city, Dorsey and her lawyer believe they have enough evidence to proceed with the lawsuit, feeling confident about their chances.

Dorsey wants to recover financially from this ordeal, aiming to be “economically whole” after the experience.

The after-school feeding program, which serves snacks and dinner to about 150 children daily, became the center of controversy, prompting investigations by the FBI and Dothan Police Department.

Now, Dothan City Schools have taken over the management of the program.
