Dothan Police Execute Search Warrants, Arrest Six Juveniles in Crackdown on Gun Violence

Dothan – (WDNews) On May 1, 2024, the Dothan Police Department launched a targeted operation, executing search warrants in the Hutchins St and Lingo Dr areas as part of a broader initiative to combat gun violence and shootings plaguing the Dothan community. According to statements from Lt. Owens, the searches uncovered multiple juveniles in possession of firearms, predominantly handguns of 9mm caliber and 357 magnum, along with the confiscation of an AR15-style rifle. Additionally, an undisclosed quantity of drugs was seized during the operation, the specifics of which remain undisclosed at this time.

In response to these findings, authorities took swift action, resulting in the arrest of six juveniles under the age of 16 linked to the investigation.

The charges for these individuals include Receiving Stolen Property 2nd degree (stolen firearms), Certain Persons Forbidden to Carry Firearms, Burglary 3rd degree, and Possession of Marijuana.

Looking ahead, Dothan City Police Chief Benny announced plans to implement focused patrols in known problematic areas as a preventative measure against further incidents of violence.
