Dothan Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Setting Truck and House on Fire

Dothan, AL- (WDNews)In a startling incident on April 27, 2024, Keith Jamer Cleveland, a 61-year-old resident of Dothan, found himself facing serious charges of Attempted Murder. The charges stem from a fire deliberately set at the residence of a former dating partner.

Responding to urgent calls just after midnight, Dothan Police Officers and the Dothan Fire Department rushed to a residence located in the 100 block of Rosewood Drive in Dothan. Upon arrival, they encountered a scene of chaos, with both a vehicle and the residence engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the residents managed to escape the home before the fire consumed it entirely.

Investigations revealed a disturbing sequence of events leading up to the inferno. Prior to the fire, the tires of a victim’s vehicle had been slashed with a sharp object, setting the stage for the subsequent conflagration. The suspect, identified as Cleveland, then utilized an accelerant to ignite the vehicle, strategically parked in the garage, before the flames spread to the house.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, it was uncovered that Cleveland had previously issued threats of violence towards one of the victims. Subsequently, Cleveland was promptly apprehended and charged with two counts of Attempted Murder in connection with the harrowing ordeal faced by the residents.

In the wake of these charges, Cleveland finds himself detained with bonds totaling $120,000. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains vigilant, grappling with the shock and repercussions of this disturbing incident.
