Historic Ribbon Cutting for Dothan United Dragons

Dothan, AL. – (WDNews) Today marked a monumental occasion for the Dothan United Dragons ribbon cutting hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor Mark Saliba expressed gratitude to the Dothan City Commissioners for supporting this vision and praised the Dothan city staff for maintaining the beauty of the stadium. The Mayor also thanked Steve Donner for his vision in utilizing Rip Hewes Stadium, bringing professional sports back to Dothan after 60 years.

Mayor Saliba hailed this as a significant milestone for the city, thanking both local and international players for their commitment.

Steve Donner, the driving force behind the Dragons, proudly announced the arrival of players from diverse backgrounds, including England, Spain, Colombia, and hometown players from the Wiregrass. He shared the exciting news that the Dragons’ logo clinched 1st place look for the best new branding in the division, setting the stage for national competition next.

In an impassioned speech, Donner emphasized the significance of this achievement for Dothan, stating, “Dothan deserves this.” He concluded with a spirited declaration, setting the bar high for the Dragons’ inaugural season: “Our goal is to compete for a championship in our first year.”
