In a significant stride towards aiding sexually abused children in the Wiregrass, the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center (CAC) proudly announces the addition of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) services to their repertoire.

This crucial service is tailored to offer compassionate care to children who may have experienced molestation, providing them with the support and attention they need during such distressing times.

Following two years of dedicated efforts, the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center now boasts a team of four skilled SANE nurses, a testament to their commitment to the well-being of the community’s youngest members.

Flowers Hospital has stepped in as a vital contributer is endeavor by providing space and essential tools to facilitate the SANE services. Notably, the hospital has lent these tools free of charge, exemplifying their dedication to the cause of supporting survivors of sexual assault.

Prior to the establishment of these services, children who had experienced sexual assault often faced lengthy journeys to access appropriate care. With the implementation of SANE services at the CAC, these children can now receive the necessary care and attention closer to home, alleviating the burden of travel during already challenging and uncomfortable times.

In light of this, the CAC encourages individuals to consider volunteering or training as SANE nurses to further bolster their support network for survivors of abuse.

Those interested in contributing to this noble cause are encouraged to reach out to the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center to learn more about volunteering opportunities and SANE nurse training programs.
