The City of Cottonwood has a new state of the art fire truck. Engine one is 2,000 gallon per minute pumper able to hold 1,700 gallons of water. The new truck came with a $306,000 price tag, which the county put up about $68,000 for. The 17-member Cottonwood volunteer fire department answers roughly 100 calls per year.
