DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Applications are now open for the 2026 Women of Distinction Alumnae Scholarship, which will provide $1,000 to a graduating female senior in Dothan-Houston County.
According to the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, the scholarship was established by past recipients of the chamber’s Women of Distinction honor. It is designed to recognize a student who has demonstrated character, service and leadership throughout her academic career.
The recipient must plan to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, technical school or vocational school in fall 2027. The scholarship money will be paid directly to the recipient’s chosen institution.
Applicants must live in Dothan or Houston County, be a current high school senior and have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
Students must also submit a high school transcript and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or school administrator on school letterhead.
The deadline to submit a completed application is Sept. 25. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
According to the chamber, the scholarship recipient will be notified by Oct. 23 and will be asked to attend the ConnectHER Women’s Conference on Nov. 5.
