DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The Dothan Police Department is opening registration for another free Rape Aggression Defense course for women and girls.
According to the department, the 12-hour R.A.D. course will be held over two Saturdays, Oct. 10 and Oct. 17, at the Wiregrass Public Safety Center, 100 Public Safety Way in Dothan.
Classes will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with a one-hour lunch break from noon to 1 p.m.
The course is open to women and girls ages 12 and older and is taught by law enforcement trainers skilled in self-defense.
According to Dothan Police, students will discuss existing dangers and learn self-defense techniques suitable for different ages and abilities. The department said the course is designed to provide practical responses during different levels of confrontation, ranging from passive verbal comments to severe aggressive attacks.
There is no fee to attend.
