ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — The Enterprise Fire Department has been awarded a $35,000 Lowe’s Community Impact Grant to renovate the kitchen at Eastside Fire Station on Rucker Boulevard, according to the City of Enterprise.
The fire department is one of only two projects in Alabama selected for the nationwide Lowe’s Community Impact Grant program in 2026. This year’s projects include 90 communities across 38 states.
Eastside Fire Station has served Enterprise since 1989. The renovation will include new cabinets, about 25 linear feet of countertop, a new stove and oven, vent hood, sink and faucet.
The improvements are designed to provide a better kitchen for firefighters who prepare meals and spend 24-hour shifts at the station.
“Maintaining operational readiness extends beyond our apparatus and equipment,” Enterprise Fire Chief Christopher Davis said. “It also means taking care of the facilities where our firefighters work and live during their 24-hour shifts. We are grateful to Lowe’s for recognizing the importance of investing in the people and facilities that support public safety, and we are excited to partner with the Enterprise Lowe’s team to bring this project to life.”
Enterprise Mayor William E. Cooper also praised the investment.
“This is an investment in the people who serve Enterprise every day,” Cooper said. “Our firefighters spend long hours at their stations, ready to respond whenever they are needed. We appreciate Lowe’s for recognizing the importance of supporting our first responders and the facilities where they work and serve our community.”
According to the city, the project was selected from more than 5,000 nominations submitted through Lowe’s Community Bucket List.
Work on the Eastside Fire Station kitchen is expected to begin later this month. All project work is required to be completed by Dec. 15.
The Lowe’s Community Impact Program is part of the company’s five-year, $100 million commitment to renovating and revitalizing community spaces.
