(WDNews) — Taylor Fresh Foods, which does business as Taylor Farms, is recalling several prepared food products containing jalapeño peppers because of possible Salmonella contamination.
The voluntary recall was announced Aug. 9, 2026, after Taylor Farms was notified that supplier Coast Citrus Distributors was recalling fresh jalapeños due to possible Salmonella contamination.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall includes certain salsas, pico de gallo, guacamole, dips and other prepared foods containing the affected jalapeños.
Consumers should check their refrigerators for affected products with “Best If Used By” dates up to and including Aug. 16, 2026. Because individual products have different dates, UPC codes and identifying information, consumers should compare their products with the complete FDA recall list.
Affected products were distributed in numerous states, including Alabama and Florida, and were sold through several major retailers. The FDA lists retailers including Walmart, Target, Kroger, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods Market, Hannaford and Stop & Shop. Not every recalled product was sold at every retailer or distributed to every state.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Taylor Farms said consumers who have an affected product should not eat it and should discard it immediately. The company said it stopped receiving jalapeños from the affected grower and moved to alternative suppliers.
The recall is connected to a larger investigation into a multistate Salmonella outbreak associated with jalapeño peppers.
