ENTERPRISE, Ala. — Enterprise Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting at Brookdale Apartments Sunday night.
According to the Enterprise Police Department, Deontae Johnson, 25, of Enterprise, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Cornell Memorial Davis, 23, of Enterprise.
Police said Johnson was identified as a suspect during an investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. He was taken into custody without incident.
Johnson was also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and was transported to the Coffee County Jail following his arrest.
The shooting happened at approximately 7:40 p.m. Aug. 9 at Brookdale Apartments in the 100 block of Apache Drive.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired and found Davis dead inside an apartment from an apparent gunshot wound. Police said the suspect had fled before officers arrived.
During the investigation, Enterprise Police also responded to the Morgan Square Mall parking lot, where officers found a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.
Investigators determined the shooting at Brookdale Apartments and the gunfire at the mall parking lot were connected.
The investigation remains active.
