DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Wallace Community College-Dothan celebrated the accomplishments of its Summer 2026 nursing graduates during Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing Pinning and Candle Lighting ceremonies, recognizing students as they prepare to enter the healthcare workforce.
According to Wallace Community College-Dothan, 37 students completed the Associate Degree Nursing program this summer, while 23 students completed the Practical Nursing program. Of the Practical Nursing graduates, 18 completed the program at the Wallace Campus in Dothan and five graduated from the Sparks Campus in Eufaula.
The college said the traditional pinning ceremony marks a major milestone in a nurse’s career, symbolizing the successful completion of academic and clinical training and the transition from student to professional nurse.
The ceremonies included the presentation of candidates, the pinning of graduates, the Nurses’ Pledge and a candle-lighting ceremony honoring their commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care.
“What a great calling this is to the noble profession of nursing,” WCCD President Dr. Kathy Murphy said. “You represent the very best that we here at Wallace Community College have to offer, and these graduates will make a lasting impact in our community and on the profession of nursing.”
Dr. Wendy DuBose, dean of Health Sciences, also congratulated the graduates.
“You are part of something bigger than yourself. Now, I challenge you to be the nurse that families want to provide care for their loved ones. We are incredibly proud of you and look forward to celebrating your success,” DuBose said.
According to the college, WCCD’s nursing programs combine classroom instruction with extensive hands-on clinical experience, preparing graduates to provide safe, skilled and compassionate care in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities and other healthcare settings throughout the region.
