OPP, Ala. (WDNews) — Fort Rucker officials are investigating an aviation mishap involving a UH-72 Lakota helicopter that occurred Monday afternoon in a remote training area near Opp.
According to an official statement, Fort Rucker officials were notified of the incident at approximately 3:30 p.m. on July 27. The single UH-72 Lakota helicopter was conducting routine flight training when the mishap occurred.
Officials said three people were aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident, including one instructor pilot and two student pilots.
All three were transported to a Dothan hospital for medical evaluation and are reported to be in stable condition.
First responders and Fort Rucker officials responded to the scene shortly after the incident. Officials said there were no additional injuries to personnel and no reported damage to property on the ground.
The cause of the mishap remains under investigation.
