WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews) — According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, two Alabama teenagers were arrested Monday afternoon in Walton County after deputies recovered two loaded handguns, marijuana, alcohol, drug paraphernalia and nearly $4,000 in cash during a traffic stop.
According to the sheriff’s office, just after 2 p.m. Monday, deputies received a report from a motorist in the area of U.S. Highway 98 in Inlet Beach that the passenger of an older model gray Nissan Sentra with an Alabama tag was “waving a gun around out the window of the car.”
Minutes later, a deputy located the vehicle near the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and County Highway 293 and conducted a traffic stop as it turned northbound onto U.S. Highway 331 South.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver, Jonathan Ean Smith, 17, of Greenville, Alabama, and the passenger, Gabriel Josiah Crysell, 16, of Honoraville, Alabama, were detained.
While searching Crysell, deputies reported finding “a loaded 40-calibre GLOCK” in his waistband.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies also found a black backpack inside the vehicle containing “another loaded 40-calibre GLOCK, alcohol, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.” Deputies also reported locating $3,900 in cash inside the vehicle.
Smith was charged with possession of a firearm by a person under 18, possession of cannabis, possession of alcohol by a person under 21 and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Crysell was charged with removing a serial number from a firearm, possession of a firearm by a person under 18, possession of cannabis, possession of alcohol by a person under 21 and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, both teens were transported to the Walton County Jail for booking and will be transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Crestview.
