DOTHAN, Ala. — An investigation is underway after at least two people were injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon in a Dothan neighborhood.
Dothan Police confirmed to WDNews that at least two people were injured in the incident. It is not confirmed that there is a third victim but it could be possible.
Initial reports came in around 1:16 p.m. for a crash in the 700 block of Monroe Street. As officers arrived, the call was upgraded to a firearm assault after a male victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.
While officers were responding to the scene, a second gunshot victim arrived at Southeast Health, prompting law enforcement to respond to multiple locations.
A short distance away, officers also established a crime scene in the 700 block of Hutchins Street, where roads were blocked with crime scene tape as investigators assessed the scene.
The extent of the victims’ injuries has not been released, and investigators have not disclosed what led to the shooting.
WDNews observed four individuals being detained on Hutchins Street during the investigation. As the situation developed, two men were placed in handcuffs and secured in patrol vehicles. It is unclear whether either individual has been arrested or what role, if any, they may have in the investigation.
The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
