DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — According to the Alabama Department of Mental Health, six crisis centers across the state provide 24-hour, year-round care for individuals experiencing a mental health, substance use, or suicidal crisis.
The centers are part of the Alabama Crisis System of Care and are designed to provide immediate support in a safe environment. Individuals can walk in for assistance, and law enforcement officers, first responders and EMS personnel can also transport people to a crisis center when appropriate.
Services available at the centers include:
Crisis stabilization
Clinical evaluation
Psychiatric care
Referrals to community-based resources
For residents in the Wiregrass area, the local crisis center is the SpectraCare Crisis Center, located at 2740 Headland Ave. in Dothan. The center serves Barbour, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

According to the Alabama Department of Mental Health, the crisis centers are intended to provide immediate care and connect individuals with ongoing support and local resources when needed.
