DOTHAN, Ala. — A 24-year-old Ozark woman has been arrested following a shooting that injured a woman on South Park Avenue late Friday night.
According to the Dothan Police Department, officers responded just after 10 p.m. June 12 to reports of a firearm assault at a business in the 3700 block of South Park Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a female suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper chest.
Police said officers provided immediate medical aid until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital, treated and released the same night.
Investigators said the victim and two other individuals were meeting with another group to purchase marijuana when an argument broke out after payment for the drugs took longer than expected.
According to police, during the argument, Peyton Ann Kroger, 24, of Ozark, allegedly pulled a firearm and fired multiple rounds. One round struck a nearby business while members of the group fled.
Police said the group then entered a vehicle to leave the area. Kroger allegedly approached the vehicle and fired additional rounds, with one striking the victim in the upper chest.
The victims drove to the roundabout at Campbellton Road and Taylor Road, where they waited for law enforcement.
During the investigation, officers located Kroger and took her into custody without incident.
Kroger is charged with one count of first-degree assault, two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle and one count of shooting into an occupied building. She was booked into the Houston County Jail and is being held without bond.
