DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The City of Dothan Leisure Services Department is inviting residents, community leaders and dog lovers to celebrate the official opening of the Forever Wild Dog Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 24, at 9 a.m.
The new park is located at 384 Narcisse Drive and was created to provide a dedicated space where dogs can exercise, play and socialize while giving owners another place to enjoy the outdoors with their pets.
According to Dothan Leisure Services, the project was made possible through a partnership between the City of Dothan and the Alabama Forever Wild Land Trust. Officials said the partnership helped create a recreational amenity that complements the property’s conservation mission while expanding outdoor opportunities for local residents.
“We are thankful for the opportunity to provide dog owners with another dog park on the west side of town to complement the dog park at Eastgate Park,” said Billy Powell, Director of Leisure Services. “Forever Wild Dog Park gives residents another place to enjoy the outdoors with their pets while helping us meet the recreational needs of our growing community.”
The park represents a collaborative effort involving residents, city leaders, staff and community partners. Officials said the project began with public interest and grew into a reality through years of planning and support.
“Seeing the Forever Wild Dog Park become a reality is incredibly rewarding,” said Commissioner Gantt Pierce. “This project began with community interest and became possible through the support of residents, city leaders, staff, and our partners at Forever Wild. I’m proud to have helped bring it to life and look forward to seeing people and their pets enjoy it for years to come.”
City officials are encouraging the public to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and help celebrate Dothan’s newest recreational amenity.
