ASHFORD, Ala. — The City of Ashford Water Department has announced a mandatory drought conservation plan that will take effect Friday, June 5, and remain in place until further notice.
According to the city, water restrictions will apply to all City of Ashford water customers under a mandatory compliance schedule.
Under the plan:
Monday: No watering permitted
Tuesday: Odd-numbered addresses may water
Wednesday: Even-numbered addresses may water
Thursday: Odd-numbered addresses may water
Friday: Even-numbered addresses may water
Saturday: Odd-numbered addresses may water
Sunday: Even-numbered addresses may water
The city said customers who violate the conservation plan will face escalating penalties.
First offense: Written warning and violation must be corrected within 30 minutes
Second offense within the same calendar year: $50 fine
Third offense within the same calendar year: $100 fine
Fourth offense within the same calendar year: Water service disconnection and a $250 fee to restore service
City officials noted that emergency situations may require additional measures. The plan may be adjusted as needed by the Utilities Superintendent or the Mayor of Ashford.
The restrictions are intended to help conserve water supplies during ongoing drought conditions. Residents are encouraged to follow the schedule and limit unnecessary water use until the conservation plan is lifted.
