Bullock County, Ala. (WDNews) — An Alabama Department of Transportation employee was killed Thursday while working in an active work zone in Bullock County, according to ALDOT officials.
ALDOT identified the employee as 48-year-old Amad R. Jackson, who served as a crew leader with the department. Officials said Jackson had worked for ALDOT for 24 years.
According to ALDOT, Jackson was performing routine maintenance in the work zone when he was fatally struck.
Gov. Kay Ivey released a statement following the crash.
“I was saddened to learn a 24-year employee of the Alabama Department of Transportation, Crew Leader Amad Jackson, was struck and killed in an active work zone in Bullock County today,” Ivey said. “As his loved ones and colleagues grieve his loss, we pray for comfort and healing. God bless.”
