Southeast Health Creates Hodge Memorial Scholarship

Dothan, Ala. (WDNews) — The Southeast Health Foundation has announced the creation of the Marla Meadows Hodge Memorial Scholarship, honoring a healthcare provider remembered for her dedication and compassion.

Marla Meadows Hodge, a certified registered nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology at Southeast Health’s Cardiovascular Institute, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 42. Colleagues say she devoted her career to caring for others and left a lasting impact on both patients and coworkers.

She was known for her infectious smile and positive outlook, and her legacy continues to resonate with those who worked alongside her.

“She loved us all so BIG and she always left us better than she found us,” said Donna Trimnel, director of the Cardiovascular Institute.

Foundation leaders say the scholarship was created as a lasting tribute to her work and influence.

“Marla touched many lives,” said Amy Bunting, director of the Foundation. “Our Foundation Employee Council wanted to create a lasting tribute that reflects her dedication to the Medical Center, her patients, and her fellow employees.”

An initial $50,000 has been awarded to establish the scholarship. Details about eligibility and the application process are expected to be released in the coming months.
