ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — The community gathered at the stadium in ENTERPRISE Friday evening, united in prayer for missing 2-year-old Genesis Reid.
Wiregrass Daily News attended the vigil, where families, friends and neighbors came together with one shared purpose — to pray for Genesis’ safe return.
As the stadium lights were shut off, candles began to glow across the stands. Organizers said the candles symbolized a light that remains on in the darkness, so Genesis can always find her way home.
Many in attendance said they have no direct relation to the toddler but consider her one of their own.
Brittany Mullins, one of the community members who helped bring people together, said the focus remains solely on the child.
“Its all about Genesis. We are our children’s voice and nobody is speaking for her but us,” Mullins said.
She also urged anyone with information to speak up.
“If you know anything, whether you think it’s not important, come forward,” Mullins said.
Throughout the evening, prayers were offered aloud as others bowed their heads quietly. Some attendees held hands while others wiped away tears.
The search for Genesis continues as law enforcement agencies work to locate the missing toddler. Community members said they will continue standing together until she is brought home.
