ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — The mother of 2-year-old Genesis Reid has been charged as investigators continue working to determine the child’s whereabouts.
The Enterprise Police Department announced Tuesday afternoon that 33-year-old Adrienne Reid has been charged with False Reporting to Law Enforcement Authorities, a Class C felony. The charge follows an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the initial missing-child report.
According to police, Reid reported her daughter missing at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Feb. 16, stating the child was gone and the front door of their residence was open. Officers conducted an initial search of the surrounding area, but no information was found regarding the child’s location.
As the investigation continued, detectives identified inconsistencies in the information provided, leading to a more intensive investigation.
The Enterprise Police Department is the lead agency on the case. Assisting agencies include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals Service, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and other local, state and federal partners. Officials say personnel from all divisions of the department remain actively engaged in both investigative and search efforts.
Investigators are also actively investigating an individual known as “Moriah” as a person of interest. Police emphasized she is not considered a suspect at this time. Anyone with information regarding her identity or location is urged to contact authorities.
Officials addressed misinformation circulating about the case, stating that speculation and unverified claims shared online can interfere with an active investigation. The public is encouraged to rely on official updates released by the Enterprise Police Department.
A coordinated search effort remains underway. Police expressed appreciation for the community’s support and asked that individuals who are not assigned to organized search teams remain outside designated search areas to protect the integrity of the investigation.
