Dothan, Ala (WDNews) – A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday evening.
Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd identified the victim as David Tice, 18. The crash happened around 7 p.m. in the 4800 block of Montgomery Highway.
Reports indicate Tice was hit by a semi-truck and died at the scene. Byrd said Tice had just finished his shift at LaParilla Mexican Restaurant and told co-workers he planned to walk to Walmart.
According to the coroner, Tice was struck while walking back.
Edit: Dothan police issued a statement saying Tice was struck by a second vehicle who did not see him in the roadway. Drivers are not expected to face charges.
Southbound lanes of the roadway were closed for several hours as traffic was diverted through nearby shopping centers.
The crash remains under investigation.
