COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDNews) – A single-vehicle crash in Coffee County has claimed the life of an Enterprise woman, more than a week after the accident occurred.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 56-year-old Melissa Kay Fulford was seriously injured on Friday, July 25, when her 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe veered off Coffee County Road 636, struck a fire hydrant, and overturned.
Authorities say Fulford was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.
On August 4, Fulford passed away from her injuries while still hospitalized.
The crash took place about two miles south of Enterprise. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate.
