Stolen Motorcycle Leads to Multiple Charges in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, FL (WDNews) – On the evening of June 11, a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy on patrol spotted a spray-painted motorcycle at a gas station on Highway 71 near Rocky Creek Road. The deputy recognized the bike as one that had previously fled from him and called for backup from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Inside the store, deputies and troopers identified the suspect as Jason Perry. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Perry lacked a motorcycle endorsement. Running the motorcycle’s VIN revealed it had been stolen from Tallahassee.

Further scrutiny led to the deployment of K-9 Rocky, who alerted officers to narcotics in Perry’s backpack. A search uncovered a loaded handgun, 5.7 grams of methamphetamine, and a glass pipe.

Perry was promptly arrested and now faces charges of Dealing in Stolen Property, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Weapon.
