Two Workers Charged with Child Willful Abuse at Dothan Diversion Center

DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) – Christopher White and Bernard March, employees at the Southeast Alabama Diversion Center, face willful abuse charges related to an incident involving a child at the facility. The alleged abuse occurred at the center, located at 2856 Horace Shepard Road, which has been under scrutiny due to a separate lawsuit alleging negligence in the death of a 15-year-old girl.

The Diversion Center, a juvenile lockup that opened in January 1981, originally housed 16 teens but has expanded its capacity to 49. This latest incident further complicates the facility’s situation as it navigates legal challenges and public concern over its management and safety practices.

Authorities are investigating the specifics of the abuse allegations while the Diversion Center remains in the spotlight.
