Early Morning High Speed Chase Ends in Arrest that Started in Samson, AL

HOLMES COUNTY, FL (WDNews) – On May 29, 2024, an early morning high-speed chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies concluded with the arrest of Taylor Carroll.

The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was alerted by Samson Police Department (SPD) of a vehicle pursuit heading southbound on Highway 81. Before HCSO deputies could respond, SPD called off their pursuit near Highway 185. However, an HCSO deputy patrolling the area spotted the suspect vehicle traveling east on Highway 185 and attempted to initiate a stop, triggering another high-speed chase.

The suspect, later identified as Taylor Carroll, turned south on Highway 81, reaching speeds over 90 mph. A second HCSO deputy strategically positioned stop sticks at the intersection of Highway 81 and Bradley Road, successfully deflating the vehicle’s tires. Carroll continued to drive for another mile before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing into nearby woods with a black bag.

The Holmes Correctional Institution K9 team was deployed and quickly tracked Carroll, leading to his apprehension. Upon recovery, the black bag was found to contain methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Carroll now faces multiple charges, including fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
