Jackson County Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews)  — A high-speed chase on Tuesday evening ended with the arrest of Willie Sawyer, who is now facing multiple charges.

Around 6 p.m., a Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle. Instead of pulling over, the rider accelerated but was eventually forced to stop, likely due to running out of gas or mechanical issues.

Deputies found that Sawyer, the driver, couldn’t provide a valid license. Further investigation revealed his license had been revoked since 2010, and he had two prior convictions for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

A search of the motorcycle uncovered about 24 grams of methamphetamine in two plastic bags.

Sawyer now faces charges of Driving While License Suspended or Revoked Knowingly, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, and Trafficking in Methamphetamine.
