National – (WDNews) Meta, the parent company of Facebook, announced on Tuesday that it is shutting down its business-focused Workplace app. The move comes as Meta shifts its focus toward developing artificial intelligence and metaverse technologies.

Meta believes that these new technologies will “fundamentally reshape the way we work,” prompting the company to wind down its Workplace product, which was designed as an online collaboration tool for corporate customers.

Current Workplace users will be able to use the app until August 31, 2025. After this date, they will have the option to transition to Zoom’s Workvivo product, which Meta has designated as its “only preferred migration partner.” Meta also assured users that they would have access to their Workplace data for about a year after the service ends.
