6 Shot in Birmingham, AL as an Investigation Continues

Birmingham – (WDNews) The Birmingham Police Department has launched a homicide investigation following a multiple shooting involving at least six individuals near the Bush Hills community.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald reported that BPD north and west precinct officers responded to multiple shot spotter alerts after 2 a.m. May 5. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a white sedan had crashed into a utility pole in the 700 Block of 3rd Avenue. Birmingham Fire and Rescue services pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Additionally, officers were called to the Shell gas station in the 800 Block of 3rd Avenue, a block away, where they found an additional man lying unresponsive in the parking lot. He was immediately transported to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Further updates from dispatchers revealed that two more men had arrived at UAB Hospital with gunshot wounds, while an additional two other men were admitted to Princeton Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two suspects have been detained by police at this , but the investigation remains ongoing.
