Rehobeth : Murder Suspect has been Identified of Hit and Run

Update: Phillip Matthew Deal of Rehobeth has been taken into custody of the hit and Run.


In Rehobeth, a pedestrian was struck in the 600 Block of Hadden Road on private property, prompting a swift response from Houston County 911. Multiple Houston County Sheriff Deputies and Rehobeth Rescue were dispatched to the scene. The suspect vehicle, described as a burgundy SUV, fled the scene, but deputies believe they have identified the individual responsible and are actively searching for them. This could possibly be a domestic situation.

Rehobeth Rescue, in collaboration with Dothan Fire, requested mutual aid. Emergency responders from both agencies met at the scene and quickly transported the injured individual to a local hospital for urgent medical attention.

As investigations into the hit-and-run continue, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office has temporarily closed both Hadden and Johnny Murphy Roads to facilitate the inquiry and ensure public safety.

UPDATE: 1:55 P.M.

The individual involved in a hit-and-run incident has tragically passed away due to injuries sustained, at a Dothan Hospital. Identified by Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd, the victim is 32-year-old Michael Arriaga. Houston County Deputies remain at the scene around Johnny Murphy Road and Hadden Road, actively searching for the suspected perpetrator.

It is suspected that a domestic dispute ensued between the victim and the suspect, resulting in the victim being struck with a baseball bat and subsequently run over by an SUV. The suspect, known to Houston County Deputies, is being diligently pursued for apprehension.
